It’s been a long time since i have covered the OHSAA State Track and Field competition in Columbus. My first event was Lakota’s Jacob Smith in the 100m hurdles at 9:35am, seen above. Once i checked in and picked up my credential and "heat sheet" i was off to work. Thanks to the help of Assistant Sports Editor Kevin Gordon, he had my day all mapped out for me. All of the events that i had to photograph were spread out throughout the day, which made work much easier. I was amazed how smoothly the track event is run. My first event started at 9:35am on the dot and my last event ended at 6:05pm on the dot. SEE MORE PHOTOS |

Volunteers play a big part keeping this track event running on time. Seen here they make sure a runner makes it off the track safely before collapsing. |
